About the singer: Ruth Mathiang
Born in Sudan, Ruth takes her musical skills from her parents as both were musicians in their early days. As a kid, Ruth used to dream that one day she would be a big singer with albums of her own.
Ruth has performed with many musicians back in Sudan, Kenya, Canada and the United States. To mention some, Ruth performed in “The Lost boys and Lost Girls Conference” held in Pheonix, Arizona as well as the ‘Hot and Spicy Musical Festival’ held in Toronto.
No doubt, she has a voice second to none, rivalled only by the likes of Mariam Makeba of South Africa and Cesaria Evora of the Cape Verde Islands.
Ruth attended the University of Prince Edward Island, Canada. Ruth Mathiang has two Albums to her credit. ‘My Cry’ was released in 2002, and ‘Butterfly’ in 2006. Ruth currently lives in Toronto.For more information about Ruth,contact Born Black.
